Timo Buchner – VFX Producer & Supervisor
I'm Timo Buchner, a VFX producer and supervisor. I've worked in visual effects production since 2006 — for film, streaming and high-end commercials. I come in early, plan VFX so it lands seamlessly in the finish, and guide a well-rehearsed network of artists through execution.
The real problem is rarely the talent
Most VFX budgets don't blow up because of the effects. They blow up because VFX enters the conversation too late — when locations, shoot dates and plates are already locked, and costly rework is the only option left. That's where I work: early planning, realistic budgeting, clear approval chains, supervision through delivery.
Direct. Personal. Accountable.
For me, “producer-led” doesn’t mean I just put together a crew. It means I advise and deliver—hands-on whenever possible, and through my network when necessary. I’m proficient in all the disciplines of my field. That’s why I can realistically assess on set what an idea will cost, what a shot can handle, and what can and can’t be salvaged in post-production. When a project requires more than one person, my network steps in—not as a permanent crew, but assembled specifically for the project.
No account manager, no communication chain. You work with me directly, from the first inquiry to final approval. Short decision paths, full transparency, one point of contact who doesn't just manage the pipeline but knows it and works hands-on when needed.
When I come to a set, I come with artists when the project demands it. When I sit alone at a desk and deliver, the project is under my hand — and it remains under my hand even when the network comes in. That is the entire logic of this format. It isn't spectacular. But it fits more projects than most clients assume when they first read the word "producer".
A network, not an apparatus
For execution I lead an international network of experienced artists — compositing, 3D, FX, editorial — and staff each project exactly to its needs. No fixed overhead, no junior fill-ins. Everyone involved brings the level the production requires.
